Welcome Back, Again

Howdy! If you're reading this right now, congratulations! That means I actually posted something on this blog! I made a new version of The Leisure Hive blog a year or two ago, originally intending it to be a Doctor Who blog. See, I had a blog called The Leisure Hive a few years back where a friend of mine and I would write Doctor Who stuff. It was around the time that the new Doctor Who series was launched. The blog is still out there somewhere on blogspot but I can no longer get into the damn thing for reasons I don't fully understand. Something to do with the Google buyout I'm sure. Anyway, we made a few posts but the whole project died out pretty quickly as most blogs tend to do. I made this new version thinking, yes, people need to hear my opinions on Doctor Who! I quickly realized (as I often do) that I was completely wrong about that.

Back in 2005 when the new Doctor Who series was launched, there were very few Doctor Who blogs around. The reason being that very few people outside of England gave a damn about the program anymore. The only fans left were us sad old bastards still clutching onto our colorful Tom Baker scarves. Here's a little tidbit that will tell you just where American interest in Doctor Who was back in 2005. Both The SciFi Channel and BBC America passed on broadcasting the new series. Yeah. Wrap your little minds around that one why don't you? All of us American fans had to get the episodes the old fashioned way by stealing them off of the internet. Fast forward nearly ten years and a couple of good looking lead actors later and the new Doctor Who series has a thriving fanbase made up of a new generation of fans. And a lot of them are girls! Needless to say, there are now plenty of Doctor Who blogs out there discussing every single facet of the new series and the old series. Mine would have just ended up being one more blog that nobody read (boo hoo).

There you have it. I let all my fans down. And by fans, I mean the occasional spam bots. So what am I going to write about? I have a few ideas. Some of it is bound to be Doctor Who related. A lot of it will be related to other geek culture items like comic book conventions. Geek culture is a totally untapped market on the internet, right? I didn't miss the boat on that one? Basically I need to be writing about something and I need people to see it and tell me how goddamn interesting it is. If you could do that, that would be super. Thanks.
